The 1953 Chevrolet truck still had the “Advanced-Designed” grille and front hood ornament used on the 1950, 1951 and 1952 Chevrolet trucks. The 1953 Chevrolet side trim arrangement was changed to a numerical series designation (3100) for 1953. New for 1953 was tinted windows including the front glass. Also new for 1953 was a 60 pound press guage for the dash.

Mechanical changes included new front roller type wheel bearings, improvements to the Rochester model B carburetor and front suspension specifications.

A side mounted spare tire carrier was introduced on the 1953 Chevrolet truck. The spare tire carrier also included a locking mechanism. A special 1/2 ton driver side rear fender was used with the side mounted spare tire carrier. But not on the longer 3/4 ton beds. The 1953 Chevrolet pickup interior colors were still very plain.

In 1953 you had 13 different paint colors to choose from on your 1953 Chevrolet truck. Colors included pure white, jet black, Yukon yellow, commercial red, ocean green, autumn brown, burgundy maroon, coppertone, transport blue, Omaha orange, mariner blue and cream medium.
